Duke’s Exclusive Painter - Chapter 21
Chapter 21
The rain was still pouring down like a torrential downpour. In this kind of weather, no matter what kind of person came, it seemed impossible to welcome them comfortably.
Maid Marsha had a slight perplexed expression on her face. Cedric senses that something unusual has happened.
As soon as I put down my quill, and got up from my seat, Roselia, who had been hiding by the door this whole time, appeared.
Cedric was stunned at the sudden appearance of Roselia, but he hardened his expression when he saw her face exposed in the twilight light.
“Call me when the two of you are done talking.”
Marsha noticed the owner’s serious expression, she sent Roselia inside, then closed the door.
Silence filled the office with the sound of the door closing. The air was heavier than the last time they had met at the tea party in the garden.
“…I’m sorry.”
Roselia, who was standing by the door, offered an apology with her hands folded. Water dripped from her light brown hair, perhaps from the rain she was drench to this point. In addition, her neat school uniform was wet. There was no such thing as a wet mouse, but Cedric’s gaze made it look like she was one. And this did not escape from her eyes.
“This is the only place I could go right now. There wasn’t…”
Cedric came to his senses when she spoke, then he stomped straight for Roselia. His sudden action startled her and she was frightened.
Cedric walked past her and opened the door of the office.
“Marsha, get me a towel, and a new…”
Cedric is behind me. Roselia glanced back with her reddish and swollen eyes as if they had been roughly wiped away, her cheeks carried sharp scratches, and her lips were bleeding red.
Her face reflected in the dazzling light of the lamp was messed up with scars.
“…no, it’s fine…I only need a towel. Please.”
After giving instructions to Marsha, Cedric closed the office door. Cedric made her seated on the sofa. He picked up a poker to add fire to the considerably weakened fireplace.
“Why is your face messed up like that?”
Contrary to the act of taking care of yourself, look at you…she was very cold. Rosalia knew enough that it wasnt that he was mad at her. She answered, wiping her wet hair with the towel that Marsha had left behind.
“I fought.”
“With who.”
“Umm..a classmate.”
Making sure that the fireplace was burning well, Cedric finally turned his back on her. His face, reflecting the light, was as red as the flame, just like a man full of anger.
“Who is tormenting you?”
At his serious question, Rosalia burst out laughing involuntarily.
What he said wasn’t funny at all, but when she smiled, Cedric wrinkled his eyebrows.
Rosalia put the towel on her head and shook her head.
“I’m not harassed, I went to fight.”
“What’s the difference between this and that?”
“Of course it was different. To be a bully is to be unilateral, but to fight is to give back as much as I recieved.”
Roselia said in a hoarse voice, as if trying to prove the difference. Cedric, who was serious about her sudden change of attitude, didn’t even know where he had gone a while ago.
