1999th bride - Chapter 20
Chapter 20
How much had she prayed like that? Melissa took a step forward with courage and realized that her trembling had calmed down in an instant.
‘uh…?’ Shouldn’t this be the case?
The bear glared at her and let out a threatening cry and was about to jump into the lake. Even if no one kindly informed her, her survival instinct called out urgently to run away now.
Give me as much strength as I can on both legs and run!
As Melissa ran through the mud at the bottom of the lake, the bear ran towards her. Surprised birds soar from the branches and the ground shakes. Melissa didn’t even have time to look back, and kept moving forward.
The bear moved easily in the water, but she was not. And the fact that the aquatic weeds that had been cluttered up at the bottom of the lake eventually wrapped around her ankle and pulled her down.
“Ouch!”
In the blink of an eye, Melissa was sunked into the water and ended up screaming out loud. A feeling of despair that the surface of the water was right there and you can’t go up from a very short distance. A water plant that was coiled around her like a water ghost refuses to let her go. It must have been a high ground until now, but the fear of slipping into the depths in an instant. All of them were mixed at once and made it impossible to swim up.
‘Look. You didn’t deserve to be this happy.” Melissa scoffed.
Somehow, she felt so happy these days and that everything was going well. The bear recognized that the water was getting deeper and didn’t seem to come any closer. Melissa felt she could no longer hold her breath and gave up. Yes, she was destined to die like this eventually.
‘Still, I was treated to something delicious, and the end wasn’t bad… goodbye.’
The last breath comes out of the throat as foam. A dim light flickered in her vision. If she could just reach out her hand a little, she could live, but why is it so difficult?
Feeling the loss of consciousness every second, Melissa was the one who lost sight of her poor life and accepted her end. But the next moment, someone grabbed her wrist. After a few seconds, the blocked breathing opened and the water that had filled in came out.

“..don’t go.”
“Melissa.”
“no. Don’t leave me alone…”
Is this a dream? Melissa groaned and hugged someone. It was warm and hard, like a safe fence.
It was instinctive to know that it wasn’t hers, but nevertheless she dug into it.
Please hug me. It’s too cold, please.
“It’s okay, Melissa. There’s no danger now.”
“You have to take medicine. It’s a calming potion.”
Someone let out a heavy, long breath. There was a glimmer of excitement in it along with trouble. Melissa tightened her arms as he thought he was going to leave her behind. Then he seemed to be drinking something, and then he supported the back of her head and gently pressed the thumb of her other hand under her chin.
