Amoral Heir - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
After leaving the cemetery, she was able to stand alone in front of Cassius’ grave.
‘Perhaps no one has ever heard of Cassius’ obituary.’
I got the impression that it was urgent and secret, as if no one should know about his death.
‘Something is strange.’
It was a really crazy idea. Why is it so sudden? Then someone called her name “Claudia.” It was a young man’s voice, and bleakly low. Claudia’s body hardened like stone at the sound. For some reason, goosebumps sprouted and spread throughout her body.
“I came to pick you up. my fiancee.”
With Claudia stiff movements she slowly looked back. Her eyes also follow. But the man’s face was backlit, making it difficult to see who it was. The time when demons come. Claudia met him that way. A man who calls himself a fiancé…..an immoral, devil- like man.
1. The Mysterious Fiancé
To put it simply, Claudia and Cassius were marriage partners decided by their fathers. They were alumni of the academy and maintained close friendships even after graduation. When Claudia turned 12, the two families formally exchanged betrothal certificates. However, there was a sharp difference in price. Soon after, Claudia’s parents died in a car overturning accident. But Douglas Werner did not break off the engagement. He openly said, “I want to keep my loyalty to my deceased friend,” and so he took Claudia’s course of action in the name of bridal training.
However, considering her reputation as an unmarried woman and other things, she was not allowed to stay in the Marquis’s castle in the Werner estate, but in the town house of the Marquis’s family in the capital. Thanks to that, Claudia was able to establish herself in the social world. Cassius, on the other hand, did not make his socialite debut. Because he was a sickly man by nature, life in the bustling capital was difficult and chose to recuperate in a secluded manor. It was like living in seclusion. Furthermore, Cassius neglected all his duties as a betrothed.
“Because you know that I am a fiancée, did you?”
He was so indifferent that Claudia often thought about it. There was also no New Year’s Eve. Only one day out of the year, on Claudia’s birthday, was the only way to send her an annual red rose the same color as her hair. There were only flowers. It would be nice if he could add a short word of happy birthday. Claudia couldn’t find his signature or handwritten card anywhere at all.
But she was satisfied. At least, It was because she thought he hadn’t completely forgotten her. So, she attended all the dances she was invited to, alone without an escort, and was able to bravely endure the pitying looks from people.
“Miss Claudia is alone today too.”
“Werner Youngsik’s condition has become serious again. I’ve heard rumors about it. The Marquis must be worried too. It looks like he’s not willing to appoint a successor because his only son is so weak.”
“By the way, Claudia is also of marriageable age, so when the hell is the ceremony going to happen?”
