Amoral Heir - Chapter 34
Chapter 34
She reflexively twitches the bridge of the nose as she followed the smell. Then, she saw that dark red blood was flowing from the shoulder of the boy holding her soaking his clothes.
“Kyaaah.”
Was it because of the blood? Claudia’s memory was suddenly cut off there. No matter how much she thought about what happened after that, it didn’t come to her mind.
“If Cassius had not followed me that day, I would have been killed by a hound, or at least seriously wounded.”
Claudia let go of her hands that were firmly holding the curtain as if it were a rope, her hands falling gently.
He turned to the side and put on a gloomy expression for a moment. “So I must never forget to thank Cassius for saving me until death.”
Cassius, who had been listening to Claudia calmly recalling the old days and remembering them, soon turned around with a light snort.
“Joy. It’s nothing.”
Contrary to the sarcasm, the voice sounded as if it were suppressed. But he had his back facing her, so Claudia couldn’t see his expression. Cassius resumed his stopped steps and changed the subject.
“Go to bed early today. Tomorrow morning, you have to leave for the capital with me.”
“What?”
Claudia put on a bewildered expression at the sudden remark.
“I don’t know because it’s only in this room, but the war ended a week ago. It’s our victory.”
Contrary to her, Cassius continued to speak calmly.
“I asked Gibelin for the war, and I was rewarded with several of their territories near the border. I got a message saying they would give me one of those estates. It is said that His Majesty will directly give the title. You, come and greet your fiancée too. You’ll also receive congratulations on being tall and serving.”
“A title? What title are you talking about all of a sudden?”
““Casius Werner” went to war for his country and was wounded as a result of fighting on the front lines. His Majesty acknowledged the merits and decided to bestow a new domain and title on me, still a Werner spirit. It’s the royal family’s own compensation for being hurt.”
Claudia furrowed her eyebrows. She narrowed her brows and looked at him with narrow eyes.
“You. Are you really going to stand out in front of other people? Will you not get caught?”
“I didn’t know you were worried about me getting caught.”
He just twitched his lips and smiled.
“You don’t have to worry about that. No one will find out that I’m fake. The sickly Cassius Werner had been confined to his room in the Werner estate all this time. Above all, aren’t the attendants of this Marquis guaranteeing it? You don’t even know if I’m fake.”
Cassius smiled coldly and sarcastically. A strange silence descends. Claudia carefully chews on her lips and bites it.
