Chubby Lady - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Entering the mansion, Elena stepped back in surprise when she saw a man standing upright waiting for her. Wood was there to meet Elena at the door.
I had spied on him many times in the two years I worked for Bacchus, but this was the first time I had ever seen him up close. “You’re here.” He said. I’ve been waiting for you, Elena.” Since she entered the county’s family as a cook, strictly speaking, Elena was Wood’s servant. It was true that she applied for the position of chef in the count’s house with the impure heart that she might be able to see him up close, but she could not even imagine that he would welcome her.
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work.” “Gratitude is my job, not yours.” Elena’s eyes, which had barely made eye contact when he continued talking, widened. An attitude that was too polite to deal with a single servant, meaningful words that could not be understood, and even the corners of his mouth that went up nicely in a soft curve. None of them were surprising. “ I hope we get along well.” Elena bowed politely to Wood, clasping her gloved hands tightly – showing him a timid personality, an unconfident attitude, an unpretty face, and a skinny, embarrassing body.
She had to get used to it. Still, she didn’t want him to see the burn marks on the back of her hand until the end. Elena’s expectations that she might be able to work in a slightly more comfortable environment than at Bacchus were dashed spectacularly. It was because Wood treated Elena like a special being to the extent that other people noticed. She felt like she was the only guest invited by him. Elena wore clothes that Wood had prepared himself, and they sat down together at a table to have dinner together. Normally, she should be working as a cook in the kitchen, but sitting still and eating food made by others was uncomfortable and she couldn’t stand it. It suffocated Elena.
It was Wood’s eyes staring at her that made him smile. “You’re not eating well. The food is not in your mouth. Is that correct?” “Not really. It just feels like this isn’t where I’m supposed to be.” “Then, eating alone with me, don’t you like it?” “No, absolutely not. That’s not what I meant.” The corners of Wood’s mouth curved again as he looked at Elena, who hurriedly denied it, even waving her hand.
She couldn’t take her eyes off the smile and stared blankly at his face. Wood, feeling Elena’s gaze, cleared his throat, avoiding, “Your clothes look good on you.” “Thank you. But silver clothes are too much for me.” “Why do you think so?” “Because I am a servant hired by the Count. Just another person who came to this mansion to work.” “Elena, do you think I’m doing you a favor for no reason?” There was the sound of forks and knives hitting the plate. Wood’s expression hardened as he stopped eating. Startled by the sound, Elena also hurriedly put down the fork and knife.
Since she was thirteen, she lived at a relative’s house, suffered all sorts of abuse, and worked at Bacchus and was scolded countless times, so she knew well what people looked like when they were angry. But now Wood’s look at her was something she wasn’t used to.
