Duke’s beautiful tailor - Chapter 17
“Are you all right?”
Jerome, realising that Helena was burdened by the fact that she had to deceive the duke, said soothingly.
“Lady, if we don’t deal with the bill, <Book of Knights> will go bankrupt. We don’t want <Book of Knights> to go bankrupt. There are times in life when you have to be a little shrewd.”
Helena nodded slowly.
“Moreover, the decision-making power in all of this rests with the duke anyway. No matter how hard we try to persuade him, it doesn’t mean that he will always accept us.”
Jerome was absolutely right. Because of her remorse, she had been reckless.
If she just let it go, <Book of Knights> that has been passed down through five generations will go bankrupt. Helena wanted to stop that somehow.
The decision-maker was the duke anyway. If the duke insisted on only the clothes Raynor Stud had made himself to the end, there was nothing she could do.
In the end, Helena tried to reason herself with it. “Okay, Jerome. Send a letter to the duke.”
“You thought well.”
Seeing Will and Jerome rejoice, Helena pulled a letter out of her father’s desk drawer. What she was going to do from now on was not honest, but it wasn’t hurting anyone. If all goes well, the duke will just buy new clothes that he likes.
It was the only way it can be obtained and the only way <Book of Knights> can be regenerated.
Helena reassured herself that this was not a scam and that it was nothing more than a little expedient for the well-being of everyone.
Helena wrote a courteous letter, choosing as many words as possible, and Jerome delivered the letter directly to the duke.
Duke Bronant’s reply came two days later. During the two days waiting for the duke’s call, Helena had to wake up every night as her heart was burning.
During this time, her father’s condition did not improve. The swelling of the injured arm was still there, the fever did not go down, and the pain was severe. The doctor made the patient eat soft food and prescribed him a sleeping pill to make him sleep.
It was around 4 PM when the servant of the Duke of Bronant delivered the letter.
Helena opened the letter with a nervous face when she received the reply she had been waiting for. As Helena read the letter line by line, Jerome sighed in relief. Helena’s face brightened even more, so it was clear that a positive answer had come from Duke Bronant.
“The Duke said that he felt positive about our proposal, and he said that it wasn’t easy to order clothes to a new shop anyways. And that it was an unfortunate accident and there was nothing we would do about it. Uh, so the duke is asking to come to the duke’s mansion tomorrow.”
“I’m really happy.”
Helena and Jerome both let out a long sigh, then sincerely smiled.
“Yeah. I was afraid the duke would reject it in a single blow. I was worried, but there is hope anyway. We’ll see tomorrow and I will try to convince the duke somehow.” Helena’s face, who had been speaking with hope, suddenly darkened.
“However, will I be seen as a man?” Jerome laughed softly.
“Miss may not look like an adult male, but she is tall, so if she wears a wig and wears men’s clothes, she will look like an older boy.”
