Duke’s beautiful tailor - Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Helena turned her head away from him and looked at the countess.
“At this point, I should talk to the Countess.”
The countess burst into laughter at the Duke’s abrupt remark.
“Oh my, I’m worried. What if the Duke is in love? Why are you like this?”
“People kept talking to me, and I got tired. I attended this party with a lot of effort for the Countess, and I want you to take care of me in exchange for my sincerity.”
“So, it’s like this, Duke. How long has it been since you’ve been here? I’ll take care of you a little.”
The countess grabbed his arm. The duke smiled benevolently as if he didn’t like it and said to Helena.
“Then excuse me for a moment.”
“Yes,” Helena spoke without objection.
She was fortunate enough to be out of sight of the duke, but when the countess left with the duke, she hurriedly left. But the tea party had just started, so she couldn’t go home yet.
Reluctantly, Helena greeted the noble ladies she knew and hid in the garden on the excuse that she had a little headache.
The Countess of Cashford was also known for her beautiful gardens. The sun was a little hot.
However, Helena went into the corner of the garden as far as she could, avoiding the crowds, and sat down on a bench with a splendid arch of pale yellow roses.
She was able to calm down a bit by trying to sit in a quiet place. The occasional breeze that brushed her cheeks was moderately cool, and the strong scent of roses tickled the tip of her nose. Helena closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
“Ha…”
She exhaled, not knowing whether it was a deep breath or a sigh. Before, she was so startled that she lost her mind, but now she was able to regain her composure a little. “Maybe, he didn’t find out.”
He wouldn’t have recognized her like this, since she has short hair before, she quietly whispered. When she first saw the duke, she cut her hair and dressed up as a man. Now, she wore a voluminous wig, wore a dress, and painted her face with makeup.
Helena was well aware of how many impressions a person could get from the condition of their hair, the shape of their hair, and the presence and absence of the makeup effect. Moreover, it was already ten days ago.
The Duke wouldn’t think that the young man he found in <Book of Knights> was her. If you have good eyesight, you’d be just thinking that their faces are a bit similar.
“It will be fine.”
Helena was trying so hard to calm herself until suddenly she heard a voice from behind her.
“Are you worried about something?”
Helena was terribly surprised. Unknowingly, she jumped up.
The man who could be said to be the enemy she met at the single wooden bridge was apparently the Duke of Bronant, who suddenly appeared through the rose arches in full bloom.
Helena just blinked in embarrassment. The world seemed to turn silent all of the sudden. She felt like she had to do something about it, but her mind was empty and she couldn’t think of anything else.
Duke Bronant slowly approached Helena. Helena leaned back close to the back of her bench as the duke approached her.
