Duke’s beautiful tailor - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
The Duke looked intently at her face.
“Oh, Duke?”
“Miss Helena.”
The duke called out in a calm voice, but as he stared intently at Helena, it appeared that although his voice was quiet as a calm lake, his eyes were shining sharply. Helena felt like a mouse in front of a cat.
“Have we met before?”
“Huh? Ah, no. We haven’t!” Helena, in embarrassment, denied loudly.
Realising that she had shouted too loudly, Helena’s face turned red.
‘Calm down. Be calm,’ she thought desperately.
She has to pretend that she did not know until the end. She was confident enough to succeed if she wasn’t so embarrassed.
“I’m seeing the Duke for the first time today. If I’ve ever met a wonderful person like you, I will surely not forget it.”
Helena tried to smile. However, as the duke stared at her with a blank expression on his face, he couldn’t help but smile.
Duke Bronant looked at her face without saying a word for a while. Helena felt cold sweat running down her back.
“That’s right. I apologize if I was being rude. Your face felt familiar, so I thought we had met before.”
Helena placed a hand on her chest when he finally took a step back and bowed politely.
“Not at all, Duke.”
Helena tried to keep her voice from trembling.
“I have a friendly impression. I often hear people say that I resemble other people here.”
“Is that so? I’m not like that at all. I don’t mind it though.”
The duke looked at Helena with significant eyes.
“How could you confuse such a lovely face with someone else’s?”
Helena became anxious. No matter how raw each comment was, it was not considered a mere compliment.
As Helena struggled without knowing how to answer, the Duke of Bronant asked another question.
“But why is Miss Helena alone in such a remote place? Isn’t the tea party fun?”
“That’s…”
Helena hesitated. It was impossible to say that she hid from him and not anyone else.
“Because I’m in a crowded place, I’m so tired I’m not very used to this…”
It wasn’t a lie. It was extremely tiring for a commoner like her to join the social gatherings of the nobles and keep an eye on them. Besides, today she was even surprised because she met an unexpected person.
“I see.”
Duke Bronant stared at her silently.
Helena only wished that the duke would leave her alone and quietly leave. But instead of leaving, he suddenly sat down next to Helena. He gracefully crosses his long legs then he said.
“If you don’t mind the disturbance, I’ll sit down for a while and leave. I also came to a place with a lot of people, so I was a little tired.”
Oh my god. Oh, God. Helena resented the heartless god, but she had no choice but to keep up with it. Her wishes had been ignored.
