Duke’s Exclusive Painter - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
After hearing her laughing out loud, he disappeared into the darkness past the sofa she was sitting on, and then reappeared. In his hand, he held an ointment.
Cedric, then sat down next to her.
“Lift your face.”
“I can do it…”
When Roselia bowed her head and refused, Cedric looked at her without a word. UInable to overcome the pressure from his gaze, she quietly raised her head. While Cedric gave her a brief treatment, Roselia glanced at him.
“…sorry for coming without a word. This is the only place I could go.”
“I think you said that before.”
He smiled a little as he applied the medicine towards the long scar on her white cheek. Rosalia scratched the back of her head and slowly revealed the story had been hiding inside.
“Yesterday the academy was on vacation. I had no home to go back to, so I was going to stay in the dormitory during the vacation, but I was forced out, since I had a fight with my classmate. I had to leave all of the sudden, I was supposed to go to another room, but there are no vacancies left.”
“Why, don’t you have a house?”
“If your parents aren’t here, there’s no way I can have a home.”
Cedric’s hand stopped at her story she just casually brought up. He looked at Roselia with a slightly calm gaze.
She had a casual expression on her face as if nothing had happened. To that, Cedric also tried to respond naturally, throwing away the thought that he had just asked a pointless question.
“Okay? I don’t have parents either.”
Roselia burst into a bright smile once more. Then, the wound was touched so hard that she cried out in pain. She knew how to make expressions as rich as the color toned of her paintings.
“The chairman. The kid I fought was the chairman’s niece.”
He closed the lid of the ointment, for the last time, he applied the medicine to the wound on her lips, and looked down at her.
“…why did you fight?”
The fact that she had an argument with an athletic classmate was well known, but she was avoiding the reason for that strange fight. As expected, Roselia’s hands started to fidget and she kept her mouth shut. It was like he was seeing her at the party the other day.
“Roselia.”
As he called out her name, as if trying to find an answer, Roselia lifted her head in surprise.
Seeing her vivid reaction, Cedric realized that it was the first time he had called her by her name. I called her unintentionally, but the lips pronouncing her name were so unfamiliar to her that the hair all over her body stood up in an instant.
Both of them were surprised by each other, and there’s silence only inside.
