Duke’s Exclusive Painter - Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Another piece of paper was placed over the report Cedric was examining. He raised his eyes and asked what it was.
This is a document about Count Ribe, who supported Miss Roselia before.”
James had a puzzled expression on his face, wondering if he had done something wrong. This was still something he was curious about, so Cedric took the paper without hesitation. He leaned his back on his chair, and went to read the papers.
The documents James brought, to be precise, were everything about what had happened while Count Ribe was supporting her.
In conclusion, Cedric felt very bad. This is more profound than reading Bessie Wizley’s vulgar remarks.
It was very uncomfortable. Reading Count Ribe’s actions, I could see why Roselia was so wary and uncomfortable with me. He often called Roselia into his mansion during his sponsorship, and although I don’t know what had happened there, nevertheless, Roselia, who became contemplative, rushed out of the mansion everytime.
‘What I did without knowing whether she would like it was not worth it.’ (James)
Miss Roselia must have felt extremely fearful at Cedric’s behavior when he invited her to the mansion like Count Ribe. Cedric, she must have overlapped him with that terrible Count Ribe, who was trying to do something to her. So, without even touching the tea and the dessert, she kept her guards up, being surrounded with pointed thorns like a hedgehog.
“Are any of our businesses connected to the Count?”
“Yes. There are quite a few products being supported under your name.”
“Break it all up.”
“All…?”
James was fully aware that his boss was angry, but he didn’t expect him to lose all his connection to the Count, not just some. In the Capital City, where each other’s businesses and investments are tightly intertwined, such severance meant complete antagonism. It was something that could lead to a bad result even for a Duke.
But Cedric nodded and didn’t say anything more, finishing their conversation.
“…yes, I understand.”
He tried to persuade him a little more, but James changed his mind shortly after. He also had no desire to show mercy to this kind of people, because he had also read about Count’s Ribe’s misdeeds while preparing the report. It was even more unbearable for him, because he had a younger sister, who was the same age as Roselia.
As James left the office, Cedric went through his paperwork today.
If she hadn’t been here, he would have been able to push out all the miscellaneous thoughts and focus on government affairs. But Roselia was now working in his mansion.
