Duke’s Exclusive Painter - Chapter 34
Chapter 34
He licked his dried lips for a moment, then got up and headed to the window. As he slowly moved the curtains, he saw the carriage owned by the Duke family at the entrance of the mansion. Standing in front of the carriage was Roselia, who was shining brightly as fresh as the sunlight intact.
Again, his eyes weren’t wrong. She had this mysterious ability to keep your eyes stuck to her. So, he must have lost all his nerves now, as he kept giving a handful of gazes like this.
With a smile brighter than the sunlight, Roselia said goodbye to the servants of the Duke mansion and got on the carriage. Cedric didn’t turn his head even for a moment, until the carriage started to disappear in the distance, beyond the gate.
When he suddenly sensed a movement outside the door, Cedric hurriedly sat down on the chair as if he hadn’t been standing by the window. I was pretending to look through the papers when someone knocked on the office door. “Come in.”
“Master, Miss Roselia has asked for me to bring something to you.”
Marsha came in carrying something as big as my upper body. Cedric’s fingertips stiffened when he heard the name “Roselia”. Everytime her name touched my ears, my heart fluttered strangely.
Marsha placed the item on Cedric’s desk and quietly left the office.
What she left behind was something packed in a square. Cedric did not immediately unpack it, but he knew what it was without seeing it. If there was one thing Roselia would give him generously, it was her painting.
Cedric carefully untied the string tied in the shape of a ribbon, as if the ribbon was her. Then, with my long fingers, I ripped off the outer wrapper.
Cedric paused when he glimpsed at the slowly emerging picture.Roselia, except for landscape scenery, always painted abstract objects. It was her fine artwork that added a sense of color to the expressive power that flowed from her imagination.
For the first time, a clear line appeared in her work. She has a clear subject. And it was clear that the subject is…Cedric. It was him.
The painting depicts him so well that it makes him feel that he was looking in a mirror for a moment. Cedric quietly raised his hand and touched the picture that resembles him. The painting, which she had been working hard to do for days and days, was delivered to his hand in detail.
As I lifted the canvas, an ivory colored letter enveloped fell on the desk. The letter she sometimes kept as a surprise gift was still in the portrait today.
Cedric opened the letter with a fairly natural gesture.
“Thank you for being my guardian.”
(Guardian, sponsor, patron..they were all the same, okay~It’s just that guardian sounds more, let’s see…umm, honorable? Anyway, I used guardian here to portray Roselia’s change of attitude towards Cedric…or more like, representing her acceptance to her.)
