Chapter 27

As if to put a baby to sleep, I put the dog to sleep by patting it on his stomach and chest. There were several earthen bowls filled with charcoal, and the room was smoky. The duvet was soft as it had duck down. I tucked my head into the blanket and closed my eyes.

“By the way….”

As I closed my eyes and stopped my hands, the little dog , who felt like he was sleeping in a blanket, asked after a while.

“You….”

“You… aren’t you afraid of me?”

“Uh, why?”

“No… you said that I’m not afraid. I also ate humans… Why aren’t you afraid of me?”

I snorted in the duvet.

“Do you know which animal killed the most humans?”

“A wolf?”

“It’s a human. But a human is a human.”

“What if I’m afraid?”

The dog’s body trembled.

“But what about the wolf?”

“Yes. That’s right.”

“right? So, wolf. Shut your mouth and sleep.”

As if reassured by those words, the dog turned its hot body to and fro, found the right position, snuggled itself to me, and fell asleep while breathing heavily. But in reality, I couldn’t sleep.

I couldn’t sleep. In fact, even after hearing the story, I couldn’t be indifferent. ‘Cause I’m human Because the human heart was moved by these stories told by wolves rather than by rumors that thousands of people in distant places had died. So, stories are made in the human world.

“Sophia. Sophia.”

‘Why do you have such a name?’

I remembered the last name the woman had called. It’s a common name. Common

It’s the name, but my mood suddenly deteriorated.

‘Aren’t I supposed to throw this little dog out the window right now?’

I turned my head and looked at the little dog , who was exhaling colorful breaths.

‘Aren’t we supposed to kill this little  dog so he never does that again?’

I don’t have to be the hostess of the castle

Waiting for her husband who never returns

‘…let’s be patient.’

But I soon suppressed the urge. It wasn’t because of a noble reason like ‘forgiveness’. Because I desperately needed the key to the study somewhere in this large castle… and also wanted the wolf to feel like a dead man.

‘You should know what a curse is. You should know why she said that as she was dying.’

As the wolves once thought as they attacked human villages. Yes, if you do something wrong, you should definitely be punished.
