Chapter 12

Instead of expressing consolation, I expressed my gratitude.

“It was a really cool place. Thank you for treating me.”

“That’s cool. I’m glad you like it.”

Those words felt especially lonely. Eileen could not resist the impulse and opened her mouth.

“So we’re friends?”

Eileen overcame her drowsiness and smiled. The wizard, looking down at a face as sweet as the sunlight of sewage, snapped his fingers.
