Private tutor - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
The cold in the winter and the rain in the summer are finally out of the attic. I will go to a place I didn’t know, but I knew that wherever it is, it is better than here. However, there will be days when I will definitely remember that old, narrow attic when I leave this place.
Pia turned around, believing that that attic would surely become a memory as time passed. A wagon was waiting for her to take her to Pennyl.
The wagon arrived in Pennyl after a month. Depodil House was a mansion built on the outskirts of Pennyl, in the middle of a barren wasteland. Really, it was a wasteland with nothing. It’s not an exaggeration or anything, it’s enough to take two hours by carriage to even see a single house nearby.
A mansion built on top of a hill in a wasteland like that. Moreover, the two-story stone mansion was covered with ivy that had dried up this winter, giving it an even more eerie appearance. I didn’t dare say it out loud, but the mansion gave off an atmosphere like a ghost.
[Won’t the atmosphere change when spring comes?]
The coachman who drove the wagon all the way here looked at Pia’s expression and comforted himself rather than comforting her. Will it get any better? I hope so, but we will know only when spring comes.
‘Yes. How important is the atmosphere of the mansion? What matters is the pay. Let’s not forget, 40,000 bills. But Dale is so… he looks very sick, but he’s really good’
Now Pia is in the mansion with Henry Dale, the owner and employer of the mansion. I was sitting and watching. But this man named Henry Dale. He looked so sickly. It wasn’t just that he had a bad complexion, but seeing he was in a wheelchair, it was either that he couldn’t use his legs or that he had no strength in his legs. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the hand resting on the blanket covering the knee was all bones, from fingers to wrists. Needless to say, his complexion was pale with no blood, and his face was solemn. Under the eyes were big eyebags.
‘You look young, do you have any disease?’
I think he’s roughly in his late 30’s. Why does he look so fierce?
“There are some rules that must be followed. There aren’t many, so I would be grateful if you listen and memorise them and then abide by them.” Henry Dale’s voice was polite, but somehow cold.
‘Can I get along well with this type of employer? But it’s 40,000 bills.’
“Once you leave the house, you will be out for a month. Only one day on. You are not allowed to leave the mansion except on the designated days.”
“All right.”
