Sigrid - Chapter 12
Chapter 1.12: Sigrid Ankertna
As Sigrid thought about how she couldn’t believe that she’d done all of this, she walked around the house several times, taking the time to open, close, touch, and sweep her hands over the doors that existed in the house.
‘Is everything going to change?’
In all honesty, would buying a house really change her life?
Sigrid laid on the cold floor and looked up the ceiling.
“His majesty.”
In a low voice, Sigrid called her previous master.
“-Die for this King”
There was an ‘unacceptable confidence’ in that voice saying those words. Yet, Sigrid never doubted the emperor and would really die for him. Sigrid was willing to die for her master, the Emperor. However, it wasn’t that kind of way. Not the cut off at the guillotine after being brutally tortured, after being dishonoured due to being charged of treason. Because, being charged with treason, her body and head must have been hanging in the wall, struck by stone, and hung until it was rotten.
“Why did I get charged with treason?”
Sigrid tried to recall what had happened in her previous life. However, her memories were limited as she covered her eyes and ears and only moved according to the Emperor’s order. Yet, she still clearly remembered her isolation room.
‘It is me who killed the crown prince. I joined hands with the second prince to kill the crown prince and save the throne.’
But why did the emperor do that? Why was it for the emperor that the crown prince died and the second prince was also executed for treason? Wouldn’t it be bad for the imperial family to have two successors killed? Of course, there were other princes, but…
‘My head hurts.’
Thinking about something she had never thought about made her head hurt. However, after she came back to life to the time before her execution, she refused to live her life without knowing the real reason she died. Now that she thought about it, she felt ridiculous not knowing why she died.
‘And what’s more painful is…”
Sigrid smiled bitterly and wrapped her hands around her face.
‘I was thrown away.’
It was the most miserable thing to be such a person who died like that. She wanted to be recognized. She really wanted to be recognized. She wanted to be a precious person.
Laughter flowed from her lips and soon it turned into sobs. Sigrid sobbed in misery as tears streamed down her cheeks. It was sad and miserable that all of her efforts were useless, so she cried and cried.
After crying for a long time until she was exhausted, Sigrid felt refreshed somehow. Her eyes were burning, but her heart was cool.
Sigrid slowly got herself up. She went to the kitchen, turned on the water from the kitchen sink, and washed her face clean. She felt good when the cold water touched her eyes.
‘I won’t take you as my master anymore.’
Sigrid made a promise to herself. The emperor was no longer her master. Yet, a new problem arose, who should she choose as a master? While wiping her face with her handkerchief, Sigrid decided to think about the matter slowly. She didn’t want to choose too hastily, and she was on a long break for the time being anyway. Thinking about it made her head hurt so that matter could be thought over later on.
Throughout the week, Sigrid was preoccupied with tidying up the house from dawn until she fell asleep at night. Because of that, at the end of the week, the garden had become neat and fresh enough to have a tea party right away. Every bit of furniture, from candlesticks to chair legs, in the house, was shiny, even from the roof to the rainwater pipe had been polished excellently. The horse stable, which had collapsed, had also been rebuilt. Sigrid also prepared a new bed sheet for all the beds as the old ones were used by others. Surprisingly, her stuff fit into three suitcases, so Sigrid was able to bring all of it without any difficulty.
After putting the interior books she recently bought in the bookshelf in the study room, Sigrid organized her uniform and clothes, as well as put some living tools in place, then it was over.
‘Oh right. I should get my clothes.’
Sigrid clapped her hands and then headed out for District 2.
As Sigrid was going inside the clothing store, Etwatz greeted her joyfully.
“Welcome, Sir.”
“Oh my gosh.”
Sigrid, who turned her eyes to the direction of the surprised voice, was embarrassed.
