Chapter 26

“Princess.”

Knowing that I want you, How do you use that fact?

He asked with dark eyes.. “The Count of Ethenburg… in your heart, do you like him?”

“Don’t ask off-topic questions.”

She replied coldly, but she let him go and took a step back, ignoring his piercing gaze at her. “Not a bad match for the Duke of Neviev. It is true to judge that there’s no big downside there.”

“Is that all?”

“Other than that, I never thought about it. I, heir to the Duke of Neviev and nothing more is more important. So promise me.”

Floris looked up at him again and spoke again and again. “Don’t do anything unexpected. You too are a part of Neviev and you have to exist only for me. Let go of the idea that you can do something with yourself. This is a warning.”

Kagen stood motionless. After a long silence, he managed to answer.

“Then I will go today. I’m sorry, but I’m running out of time right now.  I have to redecorate before the Count of Ethenburg comes..“

Floris turned around. Kagen unknowingly grabbed her arm. When she looked at him with surprised eyes, he released her hand as if in shock. The soft texture of the skin that he felt as her body remained as it was, made his whole body tingle.

“Princess.”

How harsh it is to hold someone in your heart that you can’t even have.

He just held her arm for a while, but as if he had drunk alcohol for the first time, a bright haze filled his body. Kagen shook his head and continued.

“Go, why don’t you go?”

Floris stared blankly at him with a puzzled look, as if he was crazy.

The expression that she doesn’t know what he’s talking about made him so excited that he seemed to have forgotten even the answer.

“Can you look at the sword?”

“As always.”

“Do it tomorrow.”

“Once every two days, the lady decides. These are the rules you gave me.”

“It’s presumptuous. Cover the rudeness with your skills. I can only give it once or twice.”

“If you don’t get married… you don’t have to. For the Duke of Neviev, one princess is enough.”

“Then what about my successor? I want to raise a better child than myself as the next successor to Neviev. I don’t know why I’m telling you this… Oh, it’s really late.”

She glanced behind her nervously. Not knowing that the conversation was going to be this long, she turned around without even finishing her words. The heels of the shoes, visible through the hem of the dress, were high. Originally, she always wore low-heeled shoes when she went up the mountain… Apparently, she was really busy with the Earl of Ethenburg.

Kagen unconsciously stretched out his hand, but she moved quickly through the path, and eventually started running.

“No way, Princess! Do not run!”

Kagen shouted reflexively and followed.
