Winter Hunting - Chapter 10
Chapter 10
(WARNING!! Attempted RAPE!! WARNING!! VIOLENCE! BLOOD!! And HOMICIDE!! WARNING!!)
Ariste rolled several times and hit her shoulder hard against the corner of the bed, but she couldn’t feel the pain at all. Falling down, she caught the man in her sight. The man kicked her stomach, making a dull sound.
Ariste didn’t miss this time and struck his head with a kettle nearby.
“Ah, hah…” She couldn’t accept it.
Blood was dripping from Hans’ forehead, who had been beaten in the head. She got up and grabbed the legs of the table. At that moment, the old table was shoved and pushed aside. With a “thump”, the sound of the corner of the table hitting the man’s head rang too loudly.
Hans showed no signs of movement. Looking at his limp arms, she was now in another horror.
“Is he dead…?”
She pulled his body closer and stumbled back. Hans’ hand seemed to reach forward at any moment and grasp her neck, but looking at his arms without any movement at all, her thoughts froze more and more.
–Hans is dead.
At that moment, she felt all the blood on her body cool down.
“I killed him.” She muttered inadvertently and quickly closed her mouth.
It was a terrifying word to be said by her own mouth. To kill a person, but in front of her eyes…it was clearly a human body.
The moment she regained her senses, there was only one thing that came to her mind,
‘I have to run away.’
In this house, in this town. No one will believe her innocence. No one would be interested in the truth.
No one would blame the village chief’s son for sneaking into a house where a woman lives alone in the middle of the night.
The only thing that matters was the death of the village chief’s son. All scenes unfolded as if it was seen before her eyes.
She shouldn’t delay any time, there was nothing to bring anyway. She raised her staggering body, then pulled the cloak hung by the stove and put it on her body. She opened the hatch on the floor and pulled out a leather pouch for emergency money.
In a flash, the sound of hitting a few coins rang very poorly. But it was all her fortune.
Ariste jumped over the man’s body half mindedly and shoved anything worth a little money into a bag made of leather pieces.
All she could carry in her bag was a pile of medicinal herbs that she had trimmed.
She picked everything as soon as she could, and put it into her bag then stood up. But the moment she did, the dizziness came and her body staggered, but she managed to catch back her centre of gravity.
“Shuwaah~”
When the side door was pushed open, a heavy blizzard came into the house. The sound of the wind struck her ear softly, like the cry of a devil.
She looked outside the slightly opened door, and only the darkness filled her view. She couldn’t reach the distance with her sight. Going outside in this weather meant death.
However…
Ariste turned halfway and looked at the dead man’s face. It was impossible to hide that body. When the bright day comes, she would probably become a killer and might have to climb on top of the firewood piled up for the festival.
So she had to choose the ones that she couldn’t afford to buy more. She took a deep breath and then opened the side door wide. And in the meantime, she pushed her body like a crumpled one.
Her house was in the most rear part of town. It was fortunate that the road to the mountain was close. The wind biting her skin scratches her face. Even with the cloak tightly closed, it was difficult to prevent the wind that grinds her face without reason.
Boots made of animal fur were buried in the snow. Snow was piled up enough to reach the edge of her dress rising above the ankles. Ariste walked with her feet buried in the snow.
The road to the mountain was steep enough to have climbed it with difficulty, even in normal times. And it was even more difficult to climb up the road through the snow. She walked with all her might enough for her to die.
‘But if I return, I die.’
