Winter Hunting - Chapter 28
Chapter 28
As if it was aiming, the eagle was staring down with fierce eyes. Even the animal fur she was lying down in was from a bear. At the end of the thick fur, there were claws of the paws that must have been the bear’s, remaining there as it was.
As I raised my head further, the bear’s face remained. The jewels embedded in place of the eyes were delicately crafted. Like the eagle, it seemed that it was looking at herself with its own eyes within this moment.
The man holding herself must have been the owner of this quaint lodge. My head hurt like it was breaking. Ariste put together pieces of memory one by one.
I started to run and was wandering through the snowy forest. The wolf appeared, and so is this man.
“I am not a Duke “
Only those words clearly remained in my memory. It was said that if one defies Duke Icanus’ winter hunt ban, only death could pay it off. If so, how is this man here? How can he wander around freely at the Duke’s hunting ground and go hunting?
Hunting ground…anyone invading the Duke ‘s hunting ground…will die…
The question continued like a dog biting its own tail.
(Dog biting its own tail- going around in circles.)
He didn’t come in and hunt secretly. Seeing the Hunter’s lodge like this, he didn’t just stay here for a day or two.
And I didn’t think he was.
Besides this smell…
She noticed the smell of herbs floating in the air at once. At first glance, it felt like a flower scent. It was either put in an incense burner or directly inhaled with the smoke.
Even when I was in the village, I used to make incense.
Death came unexpectedly and frequently in a hunter village, and the bereaved families saw a person killed by a beast and was killed in a terrible way. Will suffer from a terrible deception of illusions, hallucination, and nightmares for a while.
Each time she made and smoked yakyeon for those people who suffered psychological shock.
(Yakyeon- supposedly, this should be a herb.)
Not only that, the prey animal heads and raptors that any noble man would cover seemed very common in this hut.
Ariste turned again and looked back to the side where the man was lying. This was the man who seemed to be made of snow crystals.
White snow-like skin is a characteristic of the northern regions where the sun is not well lit.
Seeing the man was in deep sleep, in addition to his eye lashes that were dark and long, giving an elegant shadow at the bottom of his closed eyes, his slight wide open lips were red.
Such appearance, I would be enchanted at some point just by watching. With that face, she would believe that he was hunting wild animals, even if she heard it. Like they said, seeing is believing, so I wouldn’t believe it even more.
However, I still remember how he aimed his gun.
He seemed to be born in the snow. He casually shot the head of a wolf as large as a house, and even pointed the muzzle directly at her mouth.
“I wanted you to have something else in your mouth other than a gun.”
Even in the blurry the memories I definitely remembered…
‘Something else…??’
As she was reflecting the meaning of those words, it was when the man began to turn.
The man began to turn.
He moved while his body was bared. The skin he touched reacted more sensitively. Ariste quickly closed her eyes when she saw his eyelids trembling as if they would open any moment.
However, even with my eyes closed, I could feel the gaze looking down at myself. She couldn’t make eye contact, so she closed her eyes even harder. The man’s breath was faintly felt near her face.
I felt his hand gently sweeping my back. Ariste knew for sure through last night that it was a touch with impure intentions.
