Amoral Heir - Chapter 13
Chapter 13
It was an expression. But today, when she didn’t, silence quickly fell in the restaurant. The butler, who seldom did that, secretly looked at the three people and said something.
“Still, the young master…… seems to be healthier than I thought, so my heart is relieved.”
“I trained my body whenever I had time to live. As a result, I naturally gained stamina.”
Claudia swallowed the laughter that was about to burst out. Work out?
Yes that can be done, maybe your stamina will improve. But a month?
During that time, it’d difficult for his physique to change. It’s embarrassing. Claudia looked at him with contempt as she looked ahead. The man naturally cut the meat and put it in his mouth. Then, belatedly, he slowly caught her gaze and asked. “Lady Claudia. Is there something on my face?”
“No.”
“I think you’re staring at me too intently.”
“I’m sorry.”
Claudia spoke in a cold voice that didn’t feel the slightest bit of sorry and cut off the conversation. Then she put down the unused tableware. Her action drew the eyes of two men, Douglas and Cassius, to her. Dry saliva forms in their eyes as they stare at you. As if she didn’t want to show that she was shrinking, she folded the napkin with her back straight. After taking a short breath, she turned slightly toward the seat of honor.
“Douglas.”
“Why is that, Claudia?”
“Do you remember when I visited the study earlier that I said there was something I wanted to tell you?”
Douglas freezes with the unpleasant feeling in his chest. “You answered that earlier, didn’t you?”
“I’m not trying to bring it up again. It’s a different story.”
“It’s a different story. Yes, what is it?”
After biting and letting go of her lower lip, she spat out without breathing. “I, Claudia Jaylen… want to make a formal request to break off my engagement to Cassius Werner.”
One of Douglas’s eyebrows raised fiercely. An expression of bewilderment settled on his face now.
A heavy silence fell in the dining room. Everyone was unnatural. Among them, only the fake Cassius was cutting the knife leisurely the whole time, as if he hadn’t heard any sound. The butler, who had noticed the three of them, stopped serving the meal and quietly glanced at the attendants who were standing at a loss for what to do. At that signal, the attendants quietly left the suffocating space one by one, hushing their footsteps. At the very end, the butler quietly closed the door and left. In the dining room, Douglas, Claudia, and the fake Cassius were the one’s left. Then fake Cassius opened his mouth.
