Duke’s Exclusive Painter - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Cedric realized that she was feeling uncomfortable. It didn’t seem right to invite her and make her uncomfortable, so he quickly changed the subject.
“Thank you for the artwork you gave me as a gift. I didn’t know you’d send them directly to the mansion.”
“That’s…I didn’t send it to you.”
“Then?”
Rosalia chewed her lips for a long time, unable to answer even this. Contrary to the fact that she pretended not to know, Cedric knew well. It must have been the president who ordered it, so the academy could maintain the large amount of support.
“Still, I think that it was you, since it was sent with your name. And in the end, I received them from you.”
At his unexpected words, Rosalia glanced up at him again. Just like a herbivore in front of a wild beast, it was a clear attitude just looking at her.
Cedric tilted his teacup and looked over the table calmly. Now, everything, not only the tea, but all the refreshments that filled the table were under his instructions.
However, Roselia quietly refused to touch them, as if Cedric’s favor was disgusting. Just as his unclear favors were uncomfortable, her clear hostility was inevitably unpleasant as well.
“Don’t you like my invitation today?”
At his calm and straightforward question, Rosalia’s hand gesture, which was tracing the rim of the teacup surface, stopped.
She shook her head, not making any sound in the end.
But this action of hers was read quite opposite by Cedric. He clenched his chin and grinned.
Roselia made eye contact with him, as if she could hear the sound of the windy laughter. Her innocent crimson eyes seemed to ask why he was smiling.
“I can tell that you didn’t want to come, but your answer was completely different.”
“I guess you didn’t like what I have arranged. Is it because I am wasting your time? I’m sorry.”
Roselia did not respond to his apology that he calmly offered. Cedric did not respond to her reaction as well.
He looked towards the garden.
In the past few days, pretty roses were blooming everywhere. Under such beautiful rose flowers that captivated the eyes, were a lot of sharp thorns that could tear the flesh.
It was like Rosalia. Her work and appearance were both beautiful enough to attract the attention of anyone, but her actions were full of thorns that were wary of others.
“…I.”
Suddenly, Roselia opened her mouth. He had to ask Cedric before she could answer him for the first time.
“Why does the Duke choose to support me? Why? I don’t know what you want from me.”
