Chapter 27

 

As if to put a baby to sleep, I put the dog to sleep by patting it on his stomach and chest. There were several earthen bowls filled with charcoal, and the room was smoky. The duvet was soft as it had duck down. I tucked my head into the blanket and closed my eyes.

But I soon suppressed the urge. It wasn’t because of a noble reason like ‘forgiveness’. Because I desperately needed the key to the study somewhere in this large castle… and also wanted the wolf to feel like a dead man.
