Imprint Of Count Wolf - Chapter 20
Chapter 20
The political situation was in a turmoil in the Kingdom. Not only in the Logan Kingdom, but also in many other places, so it was natural that the King felt that he had to stop it.
Eckart had great respect for the king. He wasn’t a great enough leader to make him serve loyally for the rest of his life, but he was a lord that’s good enough to serve for now. As long as the Royal family respects Arnulf appropriately, Arnulf will also fulfill his duties as a veteran. At best, it was impossible to separate from the Royal family due to circumstances such as marriage, and it was the Princess of Aida. Arnulf’s mighty power was now united with the Royal blood. He thought it was unfair that he couldn’t become a King but rather a supporter for the Royal Family to rely on for the rest of his generations.
The Duke of Aida was simply using the power of the Castle of Arnulf. He might even try to grab more power relying on Arnulf’s authority and implicate his estate.
It would be a headache if the Duke of Aida actually tried. Even if Eckart was still there, there was a high possibility that he would get caught up in troublesome things. He did not think that the Duke of Aida was bold enough to pursue the throne himself, but if Arnulf’s power was placed on the Royal lineage, there would surely be someone in the middle of it abusing it.
Had Eleanora been a strong woman like Arnulf, like a female wolf, his mind might have changed again. However, the woman was as pretty as the sugar confectionery made by the craftsman of the capital and had no other merit. Familiar with rich and luxury only, acclaimed and upheld by the rules of the upper society, disassociated with the important aspects of life.
It was a woman who was used to things. Just physical attachments.
Such a person would be of some use in politics and diplomacy in the capital, but not in Arnulf.
So he decided to treat Princess of Aida as a shadow. The King will also understand, because the Princess of Aida was only offered to him in order to keep him from marrying to another country. But he really doesn’t want Arnulf to even use a single piece of silver from the Royalty, let alone have the legitimacy to the crown for his bloodline.
But the Duke of Aida was even more stupid and impulsive than Eckart had previously thought.
‘This idea of using a daughter to bring the power of Count Arnulf into his hands, yet still can’t help but try to deceive this Count.’
It seemed that he couldn’t do it. He was the kind of idiot who makes everyone wonder if the blood in his veins was really blue.
( blue as in royal blood. There is no supernatural element in this novel… i think..?)
Eckart’s evaluation of Count of Aida downgraded to beetles, not rats. There is no risk of even trying to bite. The worries he had for Aida’s ambitions were maybe too far-fetched.
There was nothing to worry about now. Lisa wasn’t the ideal woman he was hoping for, but she didn’t seem like a woman who would be too troublesome. If she did not cause trouble, stayed quietly in the house, and gave birth to a successor, he would protect Lisa as a wife and treat her well. That was it.
Standing in front of the castle gate, Eckhart settled his thoughts as such and entered the castle.
