Chapter 4

In the fairy world, being diligent was closer to scolding or swearing. This is because being lazy and carefree was the basic characteristic of a fairy.

“Okay, I’m going to get off work.”

Eileen answered weakly and dragged herself out of the tavern. Her only hobby, ‘talking about the human world’, always ended with the closing of the bar, which was only open for three hours a day. “He hasn’t passed away?” Bertina smiled at Eileen, who was surprised, and instead of greeting her, she stretched out her fingers with long black nails and asked.

“Shall I send it to you?”

“Where?”

“The place you want so much. I mean the human world.”

The devil, facing the innocent fairy’s face, spreads the tips of his purple- painted lips pulled up. I didn’t know at the time that those words were the starting point of everything. “Yes. want to go.”

I nodded my head hastily. Bertina laughed, the insidious devil going to the human world right under the nose of an innocent fairy made a door ‘Really, if you go inside, it’s a human world?’

I’ve always wanted to go there, but it’s so sudden. The door burning like a dark blue flame caught Eileen’s attention. The door connecting the fairy world and the human world was closed a long time ago. She almost suspected the devil, but her pounding heart and adventurous spirit of heading to a new world lightly suppressed her doubts.

“Come on, let’s go. I am the devil. I don’t lie about things like this. You can swear by the devil’s scepter.”

To a fairy suffering from emptiness, the devil’s whispers were quite tempting. I could feel the blood flow in my body pulsing. But there was also a feeling of anxiety that I couldn’t pinpoint. Eileen, who hesitated, soon realized the true nature of that anxiety.

“I can’t come back to the fairy world?”

“Oh, if you want to come back, look at the moon from high up and fly. The door to the fairy world will open at any time.” The devil said he would build a temporary door to the fairy world in the shadow of the moon.

It was like a human fairy tale. When I heard that I could return, even my slight anxiety completely disappeared. I didn’t want to live a boring life anymore. A resolution that was like a resolution eventually pushed Eileen into an unknown door.

“Great.”

The devil stroked the back of Eileen’s hand. Above it is the red seal of Bertina. The flower was engraved and soon seeped into the skin. It was a sign of a contract. The evil that saw the back immersed in blue flames, grinned and waved his hand.

“Goodbye, fairy.”

The devil’s farewell was the last greeting Eileen shared in the fairy world.

‘It’s dark.’

From the moment I first stepped foot, it was so dark that I couldn’t see clearly.
