The bride of the white night - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
“I heard you right.”
Aisa raised her head in surprise. “Huh?”
“As you say. You said it right, and I understand.”
After the night in the forest, Aisa pondered and imagined all the way to Ainar. She imagined how he would respond and what he would do when she confessed the truth to her husband. However, the reaction the Archduke has now was something she had never imagined. “Why aren’t you angry?”
“Do you want me to be angry?”
“Why don’t you reject me, claiming that the marriage is invalid?”
“Do you wish for that?”
Aisa was speechless. All of her questions came back as questions. “I do, but I wonder why you are not angry with me.”
The Archduke seemed to be in trouble for a moment. Aisa waited nervously for his answer. But the Archduke did not give her the answer she was hoping for. He just said this. “Why don’t you try to figure out the answer yourself?”
Again, the answer to the question came back as a question.
There was only one thing Aisa could understand. That this person has no intention of blaming her, nor of throwing her away. All that came to mind was a question. Why? But the only man who could give her an answer did not. He just told Aisa to find it herself. There was still nothing she could understand.
He came closer to Aisa, who was sitting blankly on the bed. The man’s large hand touched her forehead.
“You still have a fever.”
“Ah!”
Aisa’s eyes widened in surprise. The man’s eyes softened softly. Then she felt like she smelled blood. The red eyes that had a sense of urgency looked strangely friendly. Is it an illusion?
“Take some more rest. Have Maron make a medicine to protect the constitution and send it to you. Take good care of it.”
“Ah yes.”
Just before leaving the room with a soft smile, he spoke to Aisa as if he had just remembered it.
“By the way Aisa, you can call me Caleb.”
“Wow.” He called her name. It was natural for the Archduke to know her name. You have no choice but to know the name of your marriage partner before the wedding. As if Aisa knew his name too. Still, Aisa was taken by surprise. Her name in the low-pitched tone was obviously the one that had been not spoken to her for the past 20 years.
Still, it sounded very different. Like the most fragile, beautiful, and precious in the world. If her name in his voice had color and shape, wouldn’t it be more dazzling than jewels? Even though it can’t be without realizing it, heat rose on her face. No, it wasn’t just the face. Her ears, neck, shoulders, no, her whole body felt hot.
“Wow, what?” he asked.
“I mean when you call my name.” She knew his name. She made an oath with him before God. However, Aisa never thought that she would be called directly by his mouth.
