The bride of the white night - Chapter 23
Chapter 23
“I want to dress. Can you help…can you?”
Naturally, the maids were enthusiastic. “Anyway, our Grand Duke made a new dressing room for Her Grace the Deuchess after the marriage was decided.”
“He even called the jewelers from Chuosa in the distance. I have never seen so many merchants crowded into Ainar Castle in my entire life.”
The words of the maids gave Aisa hope. Because it sounded like proof that Caleb was looking forward to marrying her. The maids tried dozens of dresses on Aisa and picked the one that matched her body type and skin color. Looking at the thin white dress with a deep cut in the chest, the maids were very happy.
It was pretty. “You really get along like a snow fairy.”
“That’s right. If you put this gold vine-shaped headdress on your head, you’ll look like a goddess.”
“But I think you will have to wait a few more days…” The maids blushed slightly as they saw the reddish marks left on Aisa’s chest and shoulders. Belatedly, they understood their meaning, and Aisa’s face grew much redder than theirs. It almost looked like a strawberry.
“Oh, that’s…!”
The maids turned to the other side for the shy new bride. But the dresses that followed, all of them covered the chest, so Aisa became even more shy. The maids brought clothes and accessories, dressed and decorated her repeatedly until Aisa was exhausted, and repeated braiding, untying, and raising of her hair. In the end, it was close to noon when the stage was completely finished. In front of the mirror, Aisa was taken by surprise. “Is this really me?” Standing in the mirror stood a lady shining silver. A woman who would kneel in admiration for her beauty and nobility. The silver dress with a high neck design was a-line that clung to the body, emphasizing Aisa’s slender figure. Still, it is made of thick silk, and numerous pearls and crystals are embedded throughout the garment, emphasizing dignity and nobility.
Aisa’s ivory hair was pulled up, and she wore many pearl pins and gold star-shaped decorative pins, and a small tiara decorated with crescent-cut imperial topaz. While Aisa looked in the mirror and was bewildered, the maids admired their work and praised them to their heart’s content.
“You look like the moon goddess!”
In the northern lands, the goddess of the moon, who rules over ice and snow, was the object of fear and reverence. To say that she is like the goddess of the moon was also the highest compliment.
“After all, my eyes were not wrong!”
“If only the Grand Duke could see you right now! Sorry!”
I was startled, as if waking up from a dream that had been drenched in joy and bewilderment.
“His Grace… isn’t here?”
At those words, the maids were terrified. “Ah… didn’t you know?”
“Last night, His Majesty the Grand Duke visited and must have said of course…”
Aisa was on the verge of showing great courage. After thinking and thinking all night long, she decided to show my greed. And she was excited. She wanted to decorate herself because she wanted to look a little better in front of him, but she’s surprised to see herself becoming much more beautiful than she expected due to the struggle of the maids.
She was even more excited now. ‘Will he see me as a little pretty? What about this country’s citizens?’
Now, would she look like a woman worthy of love, rather than an abandoned princess? She had that hope. Was it because she had hoped too high?
