The bride of the white night - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Eventually, Aisa tripped over a tree root and collapsed. “Ah!” She fell to the floor for a moment, took a deep breath, and then slowly got up.
It was a dark night. The air in the forest was not cool, but it was gloomy. Moreover, Aisa’s clothes were too thin. She was soaked in sweat from running and her limbs were as heavy as wet cotton. Her throbbing knee must have been wounded during her fall. With the chill that pierced her flesh, her bones trembled from the inside out, and Aisa rubbed her shoulders to warm up but it didn’t help in the slightest.A dreadful realization sunk in, accompanied by despair. A chill ran down her back and she held her head in her hands. ‘Where am I going? What should I do?’
Aisa was never given options in her life. She ran out longing for freedom, but in the end, it didn’t make any difference . Either she died here, or went back with her tail between her legs. She still hasn’t decided what to do. It was then that creatures who embodied despair appeared in front of Aisa.
“Ooh—!” Long dragging howling. Beast eyes glowing green in the dark. ‘A pack of wolves!’ A growl was heard low and near.
Crumbling twigs made a heavy snapping noise. Three wolves hid in the dark and followed Aisa all the way here. It was clear what they wanted. Embraced by fear, Aisa took a step back without realizing it. But hungry cries came from behind her, and even the slightest resistance lost its meaning.
“-Growl…!”
With her knees bent, Aisa sat still. It was Aisa who couldn’t win against a single cat, let alone a wolf. Against a swarm of wild beasts that clearly know how to taste human blood, she wouldn’t be able to hold out for even a second. ‘No!’
Biting her tongue, she swallowed the wretched cry that was about to burst out. She crouched down as much as she could and hid, leaning against a tree trunk. She had been looking for a way to live even a little, even a little. Without realizing it, after running away because she hated her life, Aisa finally realized the truth.
‘I don’t want to die!’ A sincerity that has been criticized as a sin, a sin for just being born, A heart that could only be realized when death was imminent.
“- Kung! – Kung Kung!” A swarm of wolves rushed in with a bloody smell to bite her
Thinking of the pain that would follow, Aisa curled up into a ball. However, there was no pain that was supposed to come.
“- Ker hun! -”
When she opened her eyes, she could not recognize her surroundings properly because of the darkness. A little while ago, leaning against the moonlight, if not completely, was enough to see the wolf. But now it was different. Complete darkness fell thickly overhead. ‘The moon is…!’
The moon was obscured by clouds. Because of that, Aisa couldn’t make out what was happening right in front of her eyes.
