Winter Hunting - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Chapter 18
(WARNING!!! BLOOD AND DESPAIR!!)
According to the size and material of the trap, it was not a trap to catch a fox or a rabbit. At least it was a trap set to catch a large beast like a bear.
Ariste dug her memory and came up with a way to unlock the trap. They differed in size and strength, but it was similar to how the rabbit trap was made.
In desperation under the fear of having her foot cut off, she managed to find a way to release the trap. She remembered that when she pressed it firmly, the teeth of the trap would open wide.
“Please…please…….”
She braced herself and tried to press the lock, however, a device to release the trap had been neglected for so long that it was now full of rust.
Did not move.
She tried to put all my weight on it several times, but only the rust fragments fell off and the trap did not open. Her leg that was trapped couldn’t circulate any more blood. If it stayed like this, her leg would be soon cut off, or even if she was lucky to save it, she would die soon.
“…hu…”
The tears she held fell and made a mark over her eyes. Her calf was sore as if on fire, and the only option she had was to cut my ankle off or it will for soon, or just freeze to death before that.
There’s nothing more I could do.
At that moment, she raised her head and an ominous feeling passed by her neck. It was still quiet everywhere. And see silver white snow fluttering in the wind. It was very excessive, eerie stillness. She realized another possibility that she had forgotten, and was caught in fear. One of the things I had forgotten to unravel when certain traps came to mind.
The fact that these traps were hidden meant that there were large animals like bears living nearby. Ariste’s face immediately turned white.
She glanced around with an anxious gaze. The direction of the wind was blowing behind her. She shrugged and hid in my cloak, with a vigilant gaze.
(WARNING!!! BLOOD AND DESPAIR!!)
She watched with her eyes filled with vigilance. The skin on her ankle was already turning purple.
“Bang!”
Ariste’s body trembled at the sound of gunfire she heard again. It was an unconscious reaction. The intermittent gunshot from behind her flicked the most sensitive part of her consciousness.
It was extreme fear.
She hoped this time that sound wasn’t directed at her.
Next time and then again. The fear could not be explained by anything.
However, the gunshot she heard this time was a strangely different sound from what she heard before. She wasn’t a professional hunter, but the gunshots shot by village hunters were quite familiar to her.
The sound of the gun depends on what type the gun is. And the sound she heard was different. What was fired a while ago was different from what the pursuer fired at that time.
She blinked slowly. It didn’t matter who owned the gunfire. Either there are more people after her, or she just heard it wrong.
A dark bloody scent emanated from the calf’s wound. The blood kept flowing even through the thick lumps of blood. The snowy ground was already dyed red, as if a red flower was blooming around her.
They said that humans can’t feel pain if they face extreme kinds of pain.
And just like they said, there was no sensation left in her calves. The same was true to her trapped ankle. It seemed as though the trap had already fallen off her body.
It wasn’t that bad to die like this, she wondered. Aliste suddenly thought that way. Where would she escape to? Even if she was not caught, it was difficult
to survive in the snowy mountains. Then why doesn’t she go out of this snowy forest?
‘But where else could I go? There was no place to turn to this time.’
Ariste looked down at her hand buried in the snow. Even with her frozen red finger, her sensation had already disappeared.
However, looking at the amount of snow falling, she will be buried in no time.
