Winter Hunting - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
She barely reached out for her shoes and turned them over to remove the snow inside. It was useless though. With her hand, she roughly brushed off the snow that had accumulated on her shoulders and head. She tried to raise her body.
It seemed like she would die right now. But if she doesn’t move, then she might really die. She still has pursuers chasing behind her.
How did she come to be like this in just a day? She did nothing wrong. Is it because she believed the people in that village who treated her kindly on the outside?
It’s so painful.
‘I think I’m going to die.’
Ha, she didn’t even know if she was already dead. The sensation that she should have felt has already disappeared.
It’s been a long time.
Every step in the snow seems to strike an empty, hollow tree. What she was running away for, if in the end she was still going to freeze to death, or maybe stabbed to death. But in the end, it’s still the same.
“There is a Duke in the forest that was caught in madness.”
“He will kill anything that is alive.”
‘Kill me, then.’
A gun was a weapon that could inflict fatal injuries just by a shot. The place that the bullet passed through was hot, as if on fire. On the other hand, her body was gradually cooling down. The blood oozing from her legs did not stop. And her feet and hands had already lost all sensation.
It’s been a long time. Now, it became impossible to even know why she had to run away. She couldn’t hear the footsteps chasing her anymore. Instead, she found herself inside a silent forest.
It’s like everything was frozen still, it was too quiet.
Ariste trembled from the excessive silence. They seemed to have given up on chasing, Well, this was the Duke’s estate where the intruder was killed on the spot. Nobody wouldn’t step foot here unless someone wanted to die.
Suddenly, a cold touched her face, she raised her head. Snowflakes were falling from the sky one by one.
(WARNING!!! BLOOD AND DESPAIR!!)
The snowflake was quite thick, and in this momentum, it seemed that sooner or later the snow would thicken once again. The sky was hazy. From her experience, looking at the sky, there’s going to be a snow storm soon.
“Bang! Bang-!”
Sundely, the mountain birds flew up at the sound of gunfire that cut through the air of the quiet forest.
“ouch!”
Ariste collapsed with a scream. Again snow fell from the thick branches on top of her. With her body buried under the snow, she shook her amrs widely, and spit out the snow that went into her mouth, as she struggled. She barely woke up from the snow, hurling her and covering her heavily.
It was when she was about to get up…
“Ching–!”
(sound of something being unfastened.)
“Ahhhhh!”
Ariste sank back into the snow, as she screamed.
“Ahhhhhh…”
A completely different pain she never experienced before traveled through her body. She bowed her head towards the epicenter of the pain. In the thin snow, she saw a steel trap gripping her ankle firmly. Sharpened steel like teeth of a beast, penetrated her fleshe without reason.
“Eh…uh…”
She tried to open the snare of the trap with both hands, but it was useless. The more she struggles, the more trapped she gets.
It went deeper and deeper. Blood spilled through the gap where the steel dug her flesh through.
“…no…no…” She tried to put her hand in the middle of the trap to open it, but it didn’t even budge, rather it only injured her hand.
“…ah…ah…”
There was that unusual pain that seemed to cut her ankle off. She had seen a twig, which was sandwiched between the teeth of the trap. It had been chewed and broken in half. If she hadn’t tried weakening the trap, her feet wouldn’t be attracted to her body already.
(this is the trap that Ariste activated)
