Duke - Chapter 8
“It’s wrong. It should be Sylvia Aswan. If you want to pretend, do it right.”
Sylvia’s face twitched. She was thankful to him for not chasing her out, but he strangely irritated people’s nerves. She stabbed the needle through the embroidery fabric imagining that it was Victor’s shoulder.
“How long have you been in my castle?”
“It’s only been a month.”
“There were no suitable amenities in the household.”
‘Is it ironic that I used the Duke’s budget to buy dresses and accessories?’
She took a quick glance, but she couldn’t see his expression because it was covered by his thick hair.
“You don’t need to work in person since you are my wife by name now.”
Slyvia was relieved that he did not point out her spending his resources..
She moved her hand on the needle again. She was pretending to be the Duchess, but she had no intention of doing her duty. Household work could be done by hiring a professional manager. Even when Victor was away, the Duke household was operating like that.
“Do you know how to read?”
Sylvia’s natural sixth sense was triggered. If she reveals that she knows what to do here, something annoying will happen in the future. She has to pretend not to know, pretend that she doesn’t know how to do it.
She closed her eyes and smiled lightly.
