Hopeless Desire Of A Witch - Chapter 15
“I will never give up.”
Just before the door completely closed, a voice filled with bitterness stopped Irene’s movement once more. The man’s cold eyes fluttered with unknown emotions.
“They have lost their one and only daughter.”
As expected, the man was not an aristocrat who led the knights. He was just a representative, who came on behalf of Eirene’s presumed aristocratic parents.
“I will not check her belongings. Let me see her just once.”
As the man’s attitude changed, Irene could no longer stand strong. There is no doubt, the delicate pattern of the flag on the carriage was identical to that of the pocket watch.
Eirene liked the blue, transparent gemstones on the pocket watch, because it looked like an egg that was embedded in it. I was certain, because I carefully looked at it with her. Above all, no great person would pretend to be a nobleman with such an emblem, especially with such intricate and elaborate designs.
“…come on in.”
Irene brought the uninvited guest into the house with a gesture using her chin.
There was not enough room for four men in the narrow living room, which seemed to be filled with only a sofa and a fireplace that could only fit two people. More so, Irene did not allow anyone to sit either.
“Child, would you like to go out and see?” ‘What’s going on?’
As soon as Irene called her, the child, who had been holding her breath, jumped out as if she had been waiting for her. However, the atmosphere was unusual and there were four strangers standing there. She was so afraid. so she immediately hid behind Irene’s skirt and showed her face.
The man’s eyes slanted behind his monocle, then slowly turned down.
“Order to find the belongings is to find the token that could confirm the owner’s bloodline, but…”
The man, who was said to represent his master camly broke the frozen air, and scanned Eirene meticulously. He didn’t miss Irene’s hand gestures, soothing the trembling child whether the stranger’s eyes met hers.
The man looked at Irene and Eirene alternately with his eyes that have incomprehensible meaning, and then pulled something out of his arms. It was a circular plate the size of a palm.
“It seems that you have no intention of giving it (the belongings) to me, so I will not ask for it again.”
“Can you put your hand here?”
As if his desperate eyes that broke Irene’s vigilance were just his perfect acting, the middle-age man returned to his cold and sober look. His gaze that discerned Eirene seemed like a cool act that hid away the truth.
